Over the past three or four years one refrain has been continually spoken by the Spirit to me, "Just praise Him."
"Just praise Him," when you're sick and can't do your household stuff.
"Just praise Him," when you're well and could easily forget what a gift that is.
"Just praise Him," when your husband doesn't respond the way you desire.
"Just praise Him," when your husband treats you like a queen, taking you out for an expensive meal, while the enemy's there accusing you of betraying Christ for enjoying such a delacacy, reminding you that there's only a few bucks left in checking.
"Just praise Him," when your kids roll their eyes, growl and fuss that they don't want to go to church and just want to stay home with daddy.
"Just praise Him," when your kids run up to daddy and tell him that Jesus died so they can be with God forever.
"Just praise HIm," when you get to be home though it's full of never-finished chores.
"Just praise Him," when you're away from home because the Lord is watching over the house.
"Just praise Him," when you get to teach your kids about grace and the Lamb of God in a Passover celebration at home.
"Just praise Him," when you're away from your kids and they tell you about the bad day they had with their teacher.
"Just praise Him," when you're tired.
"Just praise Him," when you're energetic.
"Just praise Him," when you're sad.
"Just praise Him," when you're thrilled.
"Just praise Him," when you're alone.
"Just praise Him," when you're surrounded with friends.
"Just praise Him," when you're accused.
"Just praise Him," when you obey.
"Just praise Him," when there's nothing you can do.
"Just praise Him," when God let's you hold the wheel too.
"Just praise Him Shiela! Just praise Him!"
Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord, Praise the name of the Lord! Blessed be the name of the Lord From this time forth and forevermore! From the rising of the sun to its going down The Lord's name is to be praised. The Lord is high above all nations, His glory above the heavens. Who is like the Lord our God, Who dwells on high, Who humbles Himself to behold The things that are in the heavens and in the earth? He raises the poor out of the dust, And lifts the needy out of the ash heap, That He may seat him with princes-- With the princes of His people. He grants the barren woman a home, Like a joyful mother of children. Praise the Lord! - Psalm 113:1-9
**** Okay, I just went looking for this song to sing while I'm starting my day and I found this video. I had to add it on here, cause it's EXACTLY the image of what God is speaking to my heart... Just praise Him even while all the world around carries on and the circumstances of life continue... Oh Praise HIM! Sometimes I just need to burst forth in praise like this guy no matter where I am.
How's scripture memorization going for you all? It's been such a comfort to me this month. Lots of changes are going on in this household and this homemaker's tired! It's been a challenge for me, especially the last 2 weeks to keep my eyes set on things above not earthly things with work decisions, school decisions, daycare decisions, getting a new car decisions, financial decisions, etc. facing me daily. Picking up my little spiral bound index card thingy with my memory verses on it has been a great source of comfort to me. I kinda feel like every time I've picked the cards up to read them I've been picking up the spiritual telephone to talk with my Almighty Dad/Creator of the Universe.
He's lifted my head every time to fix my gaze above all the quesion marks and circumstances to His unchanging love and unmoveable power.
If you're looking for a way to get started memorizing scripture I highly recommend the Living Proof Ministries blog (with Beth Moore). There's a mass of women seeking to renew their minds through scripture memory there. The goal is to memorize two scriptures a month. Go here for more information and help.
I've decided to post a video of me speaking my memory verses for each month at the end of each month here at my blog just to help me stay accountable and connected.
Just wanted to say thank you for praying for me. The class went well. I'm still prayerfully looking for the right job and so if you think of me, pray for me!
Oh, and I heard this song on the radio on the way home and it was just so what I needed to hear:
Everything rides on hope now Lord! Everything I've done destroys my dreams of what or how my life should be. I have no hope apart from You. My life is not my own...
By the way, I didn't make a mention of my sweet husband in that video and I don't want to leave him out. He's off workin' hard for his family while I'm making a video for this blog tour of homes. Just think of me and our sons as an extension of him... he, me, we, wish you a Merry Christmas! :)
I'm getting ready for the Holiday Expo, working on the gift I want to give to maybe YOU! :) And I'm also laboring in love with my kiddos today, decking our halls and putting out the nativity scene, along with starting a Jesse tree to prepare for celebrating the advent of our God and Savior.
So, I may not be blogging much for the next couple days. Hope you and your family are preparing your hearts and worshipfully celebrating the birth of Salvation today!
In light of the Elizabeth Elliot post, when this song came on my ipod just now as I was laundering the same clothes I've washed daily for months, I was illuminated. Putting those clothes in the washer I sang, "I will ever love and trust You Lord and in Your presence daily live." It felt good just now, to put laundry in the washer. It really, truly felt good, cause I was seeing myself in the courts of my King, doing His laundry.
In the times we live, in whom or what we trust for provision is tested. As I was just fixing my boys their lunch of PB&J, the old song Jehovah Jireh, came to mind. I sang it and it brought me instant peace! I went looking for it on YouTube and instead found this short, beautiful reminder that our LORD is our provider!
And if you want to get up and dance and worship Jehovah Jireh here's this:
Jehovah Jireh
My provider His grace is sufficient For me, for me, for me Jehovah Jireh My provider His grace is sufficient for me
My God shall supply all my needs According to his riches in glory He will give His angels Charge over me Jehovah Jireh cares For me, for me, for me Jehovah Jireh cares for me
I may not get to get on here and post the things that have been on my heart these past few days, but I wanted to at least share this song my heart is singing this morning!
