What I'm singing this morning

This morning the words of this song are overflowing from my heart and reminding why I feel drained, poured out, emptied, and spent in a day. I've given my life, all of it, to Jesus. I'm poured out and drained for Him. Each morning He gives me the grace and mercy sufficient for the day. And this morning as I sang these words to Him I heard, "Remember Sheila, that You gave me all of you today." And as though He was giving me a slide show with that reminder I saw myself on the kitchen floor, cleaning up the fiftieth glass of spilled something, sighing, secretly thinking, "I'm so tired. I'm so spent."

"That's when I want you to remember Sheila, that you gave me all of you. Then you'll be able to smile and gladly worship me in your offering of cleaning up what never stays clean."

If you're a mom, I encourage you to sing this song to Jesus from your heart. And then today your emptied out life as a mom won't seem vain to you. You'll remember that you offered Jesus ALL of you!

Take my life and let it be consecrated Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.

Take my voice and let me sing always, only for my king.
Take my lips and let them be filled with messages from thee.
Take my silver and my gold not a might would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use every power as you choose.

::Chorus::
Here am I, all of me.
Take my life, it's all for thee.

Take my will and make it Thine it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own; it shall be thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord I pour at your feet its treasure store
Take myself and I will be ever, only all for thee,
Take myself and I will be ever, only all for thee.

Here am I, All of me.
Take my life, It's all for thee.

(Take my life, Lord take my life. take all of me)

Here am I, All of me.
Take my life, It's all for thee.

  1. The words to that hymn as so worshipful and honoring. I don't think I've ever just read the words without singing them. It creates a whole new meaning to the song. This post was really enlightening for me. Thank you.

  2. Oh Sheila, I have felt this way so many times. I wish I could say it ended after the kids are older, but it just keeps going. How insightful. How incredibly powerful this reminder is for me today. I just thought this exact thing yesterday, almost word for word. Now I know it was the Lord's voice. How incredible that He was speaking to both of us with the same message. He hears our cry, He knows our weakness. He knows that it is only through coming to Him drained that we will regain true strength.

you are such a blessing, sister.

  3. You're right Laura, it's not just moms of young ones who feel drained and emptied... so I took out the "especially if you're a mom of young ones". I was just talking with a mom of a teenage boy the other day, watching her tears flow, hearing her heart, I thought, "Boy, mine are only 3 and 5 and I already feel like this... what's it gonna be like with they're 15!?"

If it's for Jesus, then I can, by His grace, be poured out for as many years as He desires.

    Take all of me Jesus!!!

Boy, did I need that rebuke today. Thank you...sometimes we get tired, don'w we? If we will just "remember" what He did...it really helps!!

    God bless you, sister.

BTW where did you get the widget for the persecuted church. I have been deeply burdened for them and I want to put it on my site and bring other Christian's attention to it.

    Thanks,

  6. Thanks Amanda and jo for your encouragement. I'm currently away from home, visiting my sister and the two precious babies she's fostering right now and praying that she'll be able to adopt. As soon as I get home I'll send you, Amanda, the link to the Persecuted church widget and I'll come visit you Jo for your sweet award.

May the Lord encourage you today... you ladies encourage me much!!!
